The Kickstarter is done: 1012 people pledge a total of
$57707 to make Salt in Wounds happen. I am honored, humbled, inspired, grateful
and oh so ready to get to work. There will be some properly lengthy updates
soon: outlines for the books, restatement of answers for some commonly asked
question, and settling into the production groove, but for now I couldn’t let
this beautiful day pass without thanking each and every one of you wonderful
backers.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

OVER 790% FUNDED! FINAL 48 HOURS! 9 Stretch Goals Down - 2 to Go!

We're in the home stretch, and conventional wisdom holds that the only days that *really* matter in a Kickstarter is the first 2 and the last 2. While that's not entirely true -we've had a great middle of the campaign, steadily raising funds during the center- I'm still excited to see *just* how big Salt in Wounds is going to get. We've smashed through stretch goals like a Tarrasque smashing through a first level party, and this behemoth isn't finished yet!
Unlocked Stretch Goals
In case you didn't know, based on unlocked stretch goals reached all Marrow Miner backers and above are receiving all the basic rewards plus digital copies of *all* the following:
Expanded Player's Guides with customizations for multiple classes.
Laboratory of Dr. Mundacri Adventure
Salt in Wounds Bestiary with 50 New Monsters
Mega-Map Tiles for the Heartsblood Marsh
Heartsblood Marsh Supplement
Capcaps Customize-able Map Tiles
Capcaps Megadungeon
The first arc of the Salt in Wounds Adventure Path, taking characters from level 1-level 5
In addition to that, all Blood Merchant and above backers receive all the above extras *plus*:
Physical Map pack of Heartsblood Marsh Map Tiles
Physical Map pack of Capcaps Map Tiles
Remaining Stretch Goals
We have two stretch goals remaining which are:
Second arc of the Salt in Wounds Adventure Path which takes characters from level 6-level 10 and follows their adventures as they become embroiled in the political scheming within the city, disrupt the plans of a would-be lich Binder-Lord, and finally uncover a terrible secret that threatens the city (only $473 dollars to reach this stretch goal!).
Third arc of the Salt in Wounds Adventure Path, which takes characters from levels 11-Level 15. Heaving learned that the Tarrasque is destined to be freed within the year, the heroes will face off against the secret societies seeking to twist this prophecy to their own ends and (if they survive) ultimately be forced to decide the fate of Salt in Wounds, the Tarrasque, and the world beyond! ($10473 to reach this stretch goal).
I've sweetened the pot as much as I possibly can, and we've raised enough money for me to make just about every Salt in Wounds supplement that makes sense to me. Now, all that remains to be seen is if we're gonna meet *all* the stretch goals or just *most* of them.
Now is the perfect time (and your last opportunity) to raise your pledge to Marrow Miner to get all the digital extras (For $50 you get *dozens* of PDFs and digital extras), or Blood Merchant if you want a personalized hardcopy and some sweet map packs that will add to your game; and now's your last chance to land yourself some savory, delicious Tarrasque jerky by backing at the God-Butcher level.
Thank you so much for your support, thank you for sharing (now's your last chance!), and I'll post another update at the end of the week when the dust finally settles!
*DING* Over 800% Funded, One Stretch Goal Remaining, and a Couple Corrections
over 7 years ago

Well, that was fast. We’re now over 800% Funded, and have unlocked an additional chapter of the Adventure Path (levels 6-10). Now, we only have the final chapter of the Adventure Path left to unlock. Holy crap!
Also, quick couple of corrections: in my last (over hasty) update, I made two errors (which I wanted to clear up now since I can’t find a quick way to edit that update)
I incorrectly said we had hit 9 out of eleven stretch goals. At the time, we had hit *8* out of *10* stretch goals, and we’ve since blasted through 9 out of ten.
I also incorrectly stated that the physical map packs would be included with every Blood Merchant and above levels, but actually they will be included at every *God-Butcher* and above level. Sorry about that confusion; what’s listed on the main page is correct.
Final Week Frenzy & Over 720% Funded!
– Tue, Oct 25, 2016 at 03:50:40 PM
As I write these words during our final week, the Salt in
Wounds Kickstarter has raised over $36000 and is over 720% Funded. Holy crap,
thank you guys!
Barring something entirely unexpected, I’m near certain we’ll
raise over $40,000 (thus activating the second portion of the adventure path).
I’m actually curious to see if we get over $50,000, thus exceeding the goal to
make the *entire* adventure path. I’m going to do in everything in my power to
make this final week as good or better than the first 48 hours, and blast right
through $50,000. What that looks like is hitting up all the communities that
powered us in our first week, talking about all the success we’ve already had,
and talking about how close we are to exceeding every stretch goal. Again, holy
crap.
This coming week, I’m focused on balancing last sprint
promotion with ramping up production. Juggling both balls is… interesting *BUT*
I want to hit the ground running come Thursday the 27th to ensure
the best through line from now to delivering all your books, pdfs, maps, swag, and
other digital goodies.
Here’s some Stuff I Did
I was recently on the DM-Nastics Podcast
brainstorming a scenario, promoting Salt in Wounds, and having a blast. You
can check out the episode here.
I had my first project call today, talking
production with Jesse Brake – my co-author of the ‘Alchemy of Blood and Body’
supplement (and collaborator on a bunch more besides). Excited to be receiving
the next draft of this supplement in the next few weeks and sharing it with all
Marrow Miner and above backers for early playtest.
Formalized my production process for Salt in
Wounds, which I wrote out as a detailed essay that will be included in the ‘Design
Notes’ essay collection.
Outlined like a madman.
Worked on a bunch of monster designs.
Officially put other writing projects on hiatus
(via an email to my magazine editors, and via blog post over on the Synoma
Patreon) so I can focus exclusively on Salt in Wounds.
Here’s Some Stuff I’m Doing
Setting up Ryver channels for playtest
discussion, team coordination, and generally managing the Salt in Wounds
production conversations. (In case you’re not familiar, Ryver is like Slack but
I prefer it for reasons too granular to discuss here.)
Finishing outlines (My goal is to have the
outlines for all the core books done by end of next week, and submitted for
backer comment.)
Researching incorporation and accounting options.
This project has scaled up to the point where it no longer makes sense for me
to think of a writer/sole proprietor and instead I need to adjust my thinking
& approach to that of a publisher/company. (Getting this right is hugely
important; the less I’m borked on taxes, the more I can invest in making the
books the best they can possibly.)
Promoting mega-mix dance party! My goal is to be
*everywhere* the RPG conversation is thriving this week, telling people about
Salt in Wounds and why *now* is the best time to back the project.
Updating images to include all the newly
unlocked stretch goals. (I want everyone to know just how much *extra* they’re
getting for their support).
Anyway, that’s me. Thank you again, sincerely, for your
time, your attention, and your financial support. This has all been a whirlwind
of trust and kind regard, and I’m ready to keep working my butt off to honor
that.
